Stories and Water are the most powerful mediums connecting us in place and time.
The intention of this podcast and interviews is to reach, connect, empower and inspire , by sharing personal stories of challenge and growth; and the role being in the water has played in their life and wellbeing holistically.
My name is Liz, I am the host of the Half Mermaid podcast. I am the daughter of Greek immigrants and I call Australia home. Half Mermaid, acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation as the traditional owners of this land upon which this podcast is recorded and we extend our respects to the elders, past and present. As I travel this country’s coastline to be in the open water, swim, connect with nature and stories we share, I do so, in gratitude and respect of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander peoples as the holders of the most ancient and rich story telling traditions and connections to the land and water.
Fiona Basile on Water, Place and time
Join us in our conversation with half mermaid Fiona Basile, for a trip around the world following some of Fiona’s travels. Fiona shares her love for the water and how being in it has helped not only feed her work but also her own sense of wellbeing and presence. We talk about her recent work, which captures the very essence of being in the water beautifully and the importance of taking time to disconnect in the modern world.
Lisa Schmidt on Shitbox Rallies, Ocean Therapy and healing from PTSD
We are so humbled to be able to share with you our conversation with the most amazing and courageous half mermaid, Lisa Schmidt. My first memory of Lisa was meeting her in the water at Seaford and what stayed with me was her infectious smile. I have got to know her a little more since then and I love her smile even more for all she carries in her healing journey. I will let Lisa share more of her story.
