Quotes we loved:

“Start writing, no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on.”

Louis L’Amour

‘The sea is emotion incarnate. It loves, hates, and weeps. It defies all attempts to capture it with words and rejects all shackles. No matter what you say about it, there is always that which you can't.”

Christopher Paolini

Journaling question we are pondering:

“What are the different ways in which the open water has changed your relationship with your body”

This week’s blog post:

Winter is coming. Here is why you should start cold water swimming or dipping.

Five life changing benefits I am grateful for…..I have met incredible people from all walks of life and stood with them by the shoreline. Some I barely know. I enter the water and find childlike happiness and laughter again with them. There is no other place, with such capacity for the human spirit to feel connected. It is, by far, the most connective, equalising and humbling experience.

Journal update:

Sadly we have no material update this week. We are waiting for a quote from a local printer and discussing options for the centralised distribution of these with an organisation that has a global warehousing capability. Patience and persistence is our motto on this front at the moment.

One new thing we learnt this week:

The is actually no prescribed temperature at which mental and physical benefits can be extracted by eveyone. According to Dr. Andrew Huberman in his podcast tittled “Huberman Lab”, episode “Using deliberate cold exposure for health and performance”, this varies from person to person and depends on the individual person’s cold tolerance, core metabolism and a number of other factors. The best way to determine if the degree of coldness will be beneficial for you is to use this rule of thumb: “place yourself into an that is is uncomfortably cold, but that you can stay in safely”.

Safety first as always, this is also great news, highlighting how everyone can experiment with tolerance at a temperate that is suitable to them.

A great episode to listen to, you can find it on all platform, and in the link below.

What we are listening to:

“She who dares, wins “podcast hosted by Michelle Hands in her interview of Gilly McArthur in episode “Beyond the Comfort Zone: Cold Water Wisdom with Gilly McArthur”.

Loved the wide ranging conversation that orbited Gilly’s journey in finding her ‘cold bodies of water’, but touched on so many topics from benefits of cold exposure, to body image, navigating gender stereotypes, and deep insights. Highly recommend a listen.

You can find this and other episodes of “she who dares wins on all platforms. Below is the link to Spotify.
